Hats, blankets and a friend for a newborn

The hottest June since records began didn’t deter our feisty knitters who kept on knitting through one sweltering day after another…….

If you want to use up yarn oddments, knit a hat for a preemie. Perveen made this lot in the blink of an eye. They’ll be going to our local hospital.

Another good project for using up yarn oddments is knitting doll’s blankets. Sheila made quite a few of these recently. These have been given to a local nursery.

We seem to be on a little person theme, because another recent project is Lesley’s toy for her newborn grandson.

Lesley told us his name is Kevin the elf (the toy, not the baby!) but when she checked the pattern, it turns out he’s called Martin. He’s a handsome chappie though, whatever he’s called, and is sure to be baby’s favourite soon.

The pattern is by talented designer Nelly and can be found on her website, KnitAmiracle. She has designed quite a few lovely toys. There is one called Kevin – a snowman. I think this should be Lesley’s next project. A Christmas present maybe?
